The award winners of 2016

The award winners of the Berblinger Competition 2016 have been announced. The independent jury nominated 3 excellent projects out of 15 applications.

The 1st Berblinger Award 2016 with a prize money of 23,000 € goes to Ingmar Geiß and his team from the Institute of Aircraft Design of the University of Stuttgart for their project "ECO4". The awarded team convinced the jury with a four-seater light aircraft with a highly efficient diesel-electric hybrid drive."ECO4" promises distances up to 3,000 km and significantly reduced energy consumption and a lower sound emission than in standard light aircrafts.

One of the special awards goes to Karl-Heinz Helling, who developed a new type of drive concept for airplanes with his project "Flugzeug mit Hubflügelantrieb". The second special award goes to Thomas Strieker and Thomas Senkel for their project "Elektro Flywhale". Therein, they describe a promising overall concept with battery-operated electric drive combined with solar cells and range extender.

On Friday, the 11th November 2016, at 6 pm, Senior Mayor Gunter Czisch will present the Berblinger Award 2016 in a festive ceremony at the townhall's foyer in Ulm.

Prof. Dr. Otto Künzel, president of the Berblinger jury, will present the award winners and will give an overview of the submitted projects.
